St. Stephen?

Guys, you and your friends are invited to attend Pastor Bruce's Men's Bible Study on Thursday’s at 7:00 pm throughout the Lenten season. Lent is a time of repentance, self-examination, and confession. This is a time for us to consider how cultural forces press on us and tempt us to place our loyalties and passions where they don’t belong. Hope to see you there!

The St. Stephen Martyr Recorder Quartet will also be performing. You will experience our new boomwhackers and a mini-play complete with costumes, sets and music.

Come prepared for wild animals and jungle sounds when all four choirs join together for our grand finale, “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”.  These groups have been preparing for this special festival for many months. You won’t want to miss this!

Handbell Festival

Our Director of Youth and Family Ministry invites all women to participate in a bible study on Esther.

This study is an in-depth and very personal examination of this great story of threat and deliverance.  If you've ever felt inadequate, threatend, or pushed into situations that seemed overpowering, this is the study for you.

To sign up, please contact Lydia Brooks at lydia@wherelovelives.org or call 330-492-4591 or just sign up on the form posted on the bulletin board in the Gathering Area.  Cost is $16 for Bible Study Homework Book, or free if you prefer a handout without homework.

Class will begin on Tuesday, February 25 and will continue each week, ending on April 28.

Lydia will facilitate the class at 1:00 pm and again at 7:00 pm.

Open to all women high school age & older.  Mom's & daughters are highly encouraged

Esther - It's Tough Being A Woman (1:00 & 7:00 pm)

A change up in baseball makes things difficult for any batter. A pitcher can lull the batter into a rhythm. Fast ball, fast ball, fast ball (the change up), Curve ball: Swing and a miss. The same can happen in our own lives as we have trouble dealing with “curve balls” that get thrown our way. Even in the church year we celebrate the anticipation of Advent, the beauty of the incarnation at Christmas, and the awe of Epiphany. Then the change up: Lent. Celebration turns to reflection.

So let’s change things up a little and celebrate a few Lenten lessons from some of our favorite baseball movies. Please join us for our Wednesday evening services beginning March 4 through April 2. We will start with dinner at 5:45 pm and continue into a brief worship time. Peanuts and Cracker Jacks will be plenty; all are encouraged to wear the jersey of your favorite teams. Batter Up!

Trouble with the Curve: Lenten Lessons from Baseball

Join us for our weekly Lenten meals as in coordination with the sermon series for Lent we will visit a different ballpark each week. Wear your jerseys and take part in this fellowship opportunity while enjoying ballpark food from around the country. Each week that you attend and fill out a ticket you will be entered into a drawing for (4) tickets to a Rubber Ducks game this summer in Akron.  You may enter once per week and we will draw the winner at the last dinner.  The more times you attend the better your chances of “scoring” these  tickets. Come and Play ball! Dinner is served beginning at 5:45 pm with our worship beginning at 6:30 pm.

  • March 4th we will be at Progressive Field enjoying Baked Potato soup and a Kielbasa sandwich
  • March 11th we are off to the Great American Ballpark enjoying Cincinnati Chili and jumbo hot dogs
  • March 18th we visit the west coast and Petco park, home to the Padres, and tasting Taco Soup and Quesadillas
  • March 25th we are off to Miller Park in Milwaukee for Brats and Beer Cheese Soup (Millers of course )
  • April 1st and our last supper will find us at Yankee Stadium enjoying Manhattan Clam Chowder while feasting on Nathans Hot Dogs.

Each week we will offer Tomato Soup and PB&J sandwiches and a salad. You should also watch for some extra treats like peanuts,  Crackerjack fudge and Crackerjack sundaes. We encourage you to please bring a dessert to share with the group. Cooking each week begins about 2:00 pm and all are welcome to join the fun and fellowship we enjoy in the kitchen, or stay after and help with the dishes! We hope you will join us!

2020 Lenten Suppers

Our Ephesians study will continue through March on Sundays from 3-5pm. In Ephesians, Paul addressed issues related to their new life in Christ, the community of believers, the pursuits of unity and holiness, and life’s challenges. Therefore, the Book of Ephesians and this study offer practical answers to contemporary believers’ basic questions about the Christian life and our identity in Christ.
