Who We Are
St. Stephen Martyr is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and one of the most dynamic mainline churches in Stark county, Ohio. Our focus is on bringing the good news and hope of Jesus Christ to those who hunger for His love. We invite all people to "come-as-you-are" in order to create an environment that will help you feel welcomed and comfortable.
Our Mission
Our mission and purpose is to help you experience God's love so you can grow to love like Christ.
Our Vision
Our vision is to be an exceptional community of believers, committed to sharing Christ's love, so that our priorities more closely reflect the Kingdom of God.
What is a Martyr? And why would I want to be one?
"Martyr" has its roots in the Greek word martyria which means witness. St. Stephen was the first Christian to lose his life for the sake and witness of the good news of Jesus Christ. We too feel called to lay down our lives so that yours might be lifted up. It is in our witness that God's Love Lives!
We Know
God has a plan for our congregation that will continue to unfold as we follow God's lead.
That we as a congregation desire to be led by the Holy Spirit in a direction and purpose that is in line with the Lord's will.
The better the spiritual health of individuals in the flock, the better the health of the flock.
All believers have gifts and are called to servant ministry.
Our Direction
We are and will be a Lutheran congregation, accepting the unaltered Augsburg Confession, the Large and Small Catechisms and other confessional writings as guiding documents.
-
We will offer opportunities to worship in various styles and formats consistent with the Scripture and Confessions.
-
We are reaching out to a broad segment of people, wanting all to come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
-
We will initiate new ministries that fit our specific calling from the Lord as the ministries and the ministers are discerned.
